Dr Samantha Bishop B.Sc (1st Class Hons)., Ph.D., C.Psychol., BAPCA., AChiPPP., Dip.CBT., MSFTR, ACAMH., FRSA.

Practices in London's Harley Street and Stafford.

This is a non-clinincal support service. It is your time to talk and be listened to in a safe environment. What you say will be treated with respect and in a nonjudgemental manner.  We all have times when we need support with our emotions, understanding our behaviour, dealing with life changes and major issues, we wouldn't be human if we didn't.

As a Registered Therapist and Member of the British Association for Person Centred Therapy (BAPCA) , Child Psychologist (AChiPPP), a Chartered Psychologist who has spent many years involved in research and practical application of psychology, specialised in child psychology.   I work with leading charities and organisations on children's welfare issues, safeguarding and child protection research and training. In 2008 I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for my work with young people and continue to work with and support children and young people with welfare, behavioural and/or social issues.  Throughout my work in the field, I began to see the long-term effects of taking childhood experiences into adulthood when no interventions were in place. The approach I use is cognitive and behavioural with a person centred focus.  It is based on allowing young people and adults the space to discuss their problems in a professional environment.

We often carry childhood burdens into adulthood and also the experiences of early adulthood can impact on adult coping strategies.  Relationship problems stem from our life experiences and our personalities as adults may well reflect both positive and negative elements of our childhood that can both help with resilience and, when missing, hinder coping. By using a behavioural perspective and person centred approach this is your time to talk and begin to understand and manage issues.

Stress comes in many forms with many triggers and the approach I take is about looking at all of the pieces of the jigsaw and working with you to try and develop an understanding of yourself, triggers, your environment, your responses to certain situations and your ability to cope.  This works with both young people and adults.  The task between us both is to gain trust, a broader understanding of your issues and then develop coping strategies

The basis of person-centred therapy is that you use this time to focus as we talk through what matters to you.  This allows our sessions to be individually tailored. You can talk freely, and move at your pace. You can discuss all issues that are a concern. What may seem insurmountable can often be untangled and then become more manageable.

Managing your own behaviour issues and/or understanding the behaviour of those around you

All can be talked through and hopefully your problems become a little less dominating and a lot more in perspective.  Sometimes thinking through and understanding behaviour and behaviour change helps to make sense of issues.  We also lose sight of our dreams and goals when there are concerns that take all focus of the future.  Sessions may be used to help you become more goal orientated in your thinking, focus back on your future, yourself, your life, your dreams.  Sometimes we just need to stand back and take a look at life in an objective way.

Life coaching is now the term for a small part of traditional goal orientated psychology, methods of coping and focusing on where you would like to be in one, two, three years time....We can sometimes forget where we are and who we are as life is lived.

Quality of Care is assured by the highest standard of practice and supervision. A competent service is tailored to meet the client’s needs.
